Elm
The Tumbleweed Elm model stands as an iconic testament to the origins of the modern tiny house movement, having first been constructed in 1999. Its enduring design, virtually unchanged since its inception, embodies the quintessential charm and functionality sought after in tiny homes today. At its heart is a distinctive 12-12 pitch roof, accentuated by a gothic window that adds character and allure to its exterior. A welcoming porch beckons, complemented by a front door flanked by two windows, inviting natural light and a sense of openness into its compact space.
Clad in horizontal wood siding, often crafted from cedar or painted for a timeless aesthetic, the Tumbleweed Elm exudes rustic elegance. The roof, always adorned with a standing seam metal covering, not only enhances durability but also underscores its traditional yet resilient design. This model’s enduring appeal lies not only in its visual appeal but also in its practical layout, making it a beloved choice among those embracing a minimalist lifestyle without sacrificing comfort or style.
Farallon
The Tumbleweed Farallon, created in 2016, is a tiny home inspired by Scandinavian design, particularly the iconic A-frame exterior. Its most distinctive feature is the metal roof, which extends seamlessly down the long sides of the home, creating a sleek, continuous line from the peak of the roof to the base of the walls. This design not only enhances the home’s aesthetic appeal but also provides excellent weather resistance and durability.
The front of the Farallon is strikingly simple and minimalistic, featuring only a door one window. This minimalist approach aligns with Scandinavian design principles, emphasizing functionality and simplicity. The windows are designed to maximize natural light, creating a bright and airy interior despite the home’s compact size.
Inside, the Farallon maximizes the space available with it’s layout on the trailer. The layout usually includes a cozy living area, a functional kitchen, a compact bathroom, a lofted sleeping space, and an optional downstairs bedroom.
Aspen
The Tumbleweed Aspen model, designed in 2023, features a distinct exterior that sets it apart from other models. Unlike traditional designs, the front door of the Aspen is positioned on the long side of the house, offering a unique entrance experience. The loft area boasts clear story windows, which maximize the view and bring in ample natural light, enhancing the sense of space and connection with the outdoors.
The exterior wood siding is creatively arranged with a combination of vertical and horizontal patterns, giving the Aspen a visually striking and unique appearance. This mixed siding design adds texture and depth to the exterior, making it stand out among other tiny homes.
One of the most notable features of the Aspen is its back side, which showcases a waterfall roof. This design incorporates a standing seam roof that cascades elegantly down the back of the house, creating a sleek and modern look while also facilitating efficient water runoff. This innovative roofing design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to the home’s overall functionality and durability.
In 1999, the first Tumbleweed was mounted on a trailer, marking the inception of the Tiny House RV revolution. This pioneering moment planted the seed for a movement that would transform how people think about living spaces. Today, Tumbleweed stands as the largest manufacturer of Tiny House RVs in North America, a brand preferred above all others for its innovation and quality. Each Tumbleweed model certified green and available in three sizes, ranging from 217 to 390 square feet plus a loft.
